Abstract


Every human being is given the same right to education without any distinction. Gender is not a barrier for every human being to get an education. Men and women should share the same portion of education. In the village of Tanjung Bulan there are still many people who think that boys' education takes precedence over girls. This is because of their mindset about the higher status of men, men are leaders and breadwinners in the family. While girls are considered as a prospective housewife does not need to make a living. In addition, the villagers of Tanjung Bulan Village thought that men were smarter than women. The objectives of this research are to (1) to describe the education in the family of Tanjung Tanjung village, (2) to know the role of gender in the family. This research uses qualitative research method with descriptive approach. The results of education research in the family is very important for the future of his children, the education process begins in the family is to give attention and good example. Parents prefer the boys to the women because women are only home to take care of their husbands even if they work just to help their husbands. while men have to be highly educated and earn money because men are the breadwinners.
